Akhtar Educational Hospital
Akhtar Educational Hospital was established in 1946 by a lady named Mrs Akhtar-Al Molouk Sohrabi as devotion for the Iranian Red Crescent. Its central building was constructed in 1954 and was handed to the USA Army. Buildings I and II (the famous Farman Farmaiyan Building) which was confiscated following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 was handed to Binyad Mostazafan (the Foundation for the Vulnerable). All the three buildings along with the central building were handed to the Ministry of Health. Following the integration of the then Ministry of Health with medical education, (which resulted in the establishment of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education) in 1986, the hospital became affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences as one of its educational facilities. The main field of specialty practiced in this hospital is orthopedics.
